Strengths summary:
One of my strengths in healthcare is getting along with a wide range of professionals, patients, and their families. There are three types of communication: spoken, nonverbal, and textual. I always try to communicate with patients and their loved ones with compassion. When doctors and nurse practitioners share information, patients benefit from increased security and well-being (Durmaz et al., 2018). To avoid causing unnecessary harm to patients, I, for one, make every effort to provide precise details to nurse practitioners during handoffs. When communicating with patients and their loved ones, word choice and empathy are especially important (Durmaz et al., 2018). If a nurse truly wants to help a patient, it will be evident in the way she treats them. Two-way communication is required to build trust between a nurse and a patient (Durmaz et al., 2018). It is critical to communicate the treatment strategy and educate patients about their illness in order to achieve positive results. A patient’s family requires up-to-date information about their loved one’s condition.
I am skilled at identifying clinical indicators of mental illness. I’ve evaluated a diverse range of people suffering from a diverse range of mental disorders. During my clinical rotation, I interacted with a diverse range of people dealing with a variety of issues. I try to determine whether a patient has lost interest in regular activities or is consistently depressed. A precise identification of symptoms is required for an accurate diagnosis (Percy & Richardson, 2018).
I am skilled at establishing and maintaining a trusting relationship with my patients. I never want to have multiple relationships with a patient. I know when to refer a patient to the next available therapist if I believe their emotional attachment to me will have a negative impact on their treatment. The achievement of positive health outcomes and the development of patient trust are both dependent on a healthcare system that adheres to ethical and legal standards (Percy & Richardson, 2018). I treat all patients with respect and compassion, regardless of their race, sexual orientation, gender, age, or health. Individuals should have access to quality medical care regardless of their differences, in my opinion. Maintaining a nonjudgmental attitude in the healthcare setting is one of the most effective ways to increase patient trust and diversity (Bennett, 2017).

Opportunities for advancement: Improving nursing practices is critical for meeting the needs of patients from all backgrounds. The first development opportunity I have is to connect with my mentor as a nurse. I need to make an effort to spend more time with my advisor in order to get clarification on the many issues that require attention. One such topic is improving the process of conducting and analyzing a psychosocial Assessment and family psychiatric background. My knowledge of psychological Assessments is limited. It is critical to assess a patient in order to make an accurate diagnosis (Pelin & Ayise, 2019). It would be beneficial if I could combine this information with my family’s psychological history. I’ll be able to make more informed diagnoses on a wider range of patients thanks to the data. My mentor’s expertise in conducting and analyzing a psychosocial Assessment and family mental history will be invaluable. Second, virtual events such as webinars and conferences allow you to grow your business. This website is critical for nurse practitioners’ education (Pelin & Ayise, 2019). Nursing organizations, prominent medical professionals, and hospitals, for example, will address new concerns during webinars and seminars. Webinars will cover topics such as prejudice and the development of patient-specific treatment plans.
Participating in nursing groups is the third way to grow. Both the ANA and the NLO are organizations that I would like to join and hope to do so soon. Organizations are the only way for a nurse’s career to progress (Wills et al., 2020). Participation provides opportunities to learn and grow as an individual, make new connections, obtain financial aid, and further one’s education. As a nurse, for example, networking allows me to broaden my knowledge base and gain access to additional professional tools. The fourth development opportunity is to provide mental healthcare to low-income families through volunteer work. Volunteering will allow me to interact with a diverse range of patients and gain insight into the many aspects of mental health treatment (Wills et al., 2020). On weekends and certain weekdays, I intend to volunteer some of my free time. Examples include widespread mental health issues, such as depression, among the state’s diverse Louisiana population as they prepare for Hurricane Ida’s onslaught. The Covid-19 epidemic has had a negative impact on the state’s economy and many people’s lives. I may learn advanced technological skills by gathering a group of students and bringing a preceptor to talk about using various screening instruments for mental health disorders. The frequent meetings of this group will Help me in becoming more proficient in a variety of areas (Pelin & Ayise, 2019). I want to use Walden Library to expand my knowledge and skills. I intend to search peer-reviewed publications for current, correct, and evidence-based data. Because of the reliable data you’ve provided, I’ll be able to identify trends in mental healthcare more effectively (Percy & Richardson, 2018).

Write down three to four (3-4) potential goals and objectives for this practicum experience. Ascertain that they adhere to the SMART Strategy, as outlined in the Learning Resources.
1. Objective: Learn to effectively communicate knowledge to patients, relatives, and multidisciplinary groups.
a. Goal: Please use a variety of methods to provide information to patients and their loved ones.
