Diabetic people usually experience challenges in their day-to-day activities and these challenges make them not perform efficiently compared to healthy people. When it comes to sensitive activities such as driving, it is important to take measures and monitor how diabetic people drive. Instead of completely restricting diabetic people from driving, it is important to give these diabetic patients some driving privileges basing on the Utilitarianism framework. Utilitarianism is an ethical normative system that focuses the consequences of the decisions a person makes (Faulhaber, Dittmer, Blind, Wächter, Timm, Sütfeld & König, 2019). The principle behind Utilitarianism is that the consequences from the choices a person makes produce the better good for the greatest number.
It is important to consider first whether giving driving privileges to diabetic people will benefit the individual or the other people. Following individual autonomy and privacy against social justice for the community is a direct way of allowing diabetic people to fully control their driving activities. Diabetic people will have total control in driving since individual autonomy means that a person lives according to one’s reasons and motives independently (Erlingsson & Ödalen, 2017). Therefore, individual autonomy is contrary to the utilitarianism principle.
For the first topic (sample nursing essay examples by the best nursing assignment writing service), I agree that law enforcers should restrict the driving privileges of uncontrolled diabetics to protect others on the road. The reason why I consider it important to control diabetic drivers is because of the diabetic symptoms that may pop up while a person is driving. One of the major physiological challenges that may appear while a diabetic person is driving is poor eyesight (Brismar, Cooray, Sundgren & Hyllienmark, 2021). In such a situation, a driver may not have a clear vision in controlling the vehicle thereby causing an accident.
For the second topic (sample nursing essay examples by the best nursing assignment writing service), I agree that Nurse Practitioners should report blood sugars that drop below or exceed specified limits to the DMV to protect public safety. The reason why I consider it important for the nurses to report cases of reduced blood sugar among drivers is because of the effects reduced blood sugar may have on an individual. Low levels of blood sugar make an individual feel weaker, confused and in some cases a person may become unconscious to the point of death (Brismar, Cooray, Sundgren & Hyllienmark, 2021). If such a occur to a driver on the road, one may not be able to control the vehicle and this may result in an accident that may affect other people.
