Task2 walt: 

To have a successful environment in the classroom, the teacher must have a plan in place that creates that feeling. As children progress through the school year, there must be different strategies put in place that addresses content and developmental needs. Teachers must attend to students’ social-emotional needs as well in order to create an effective learning environment in the classroom. This Helpance also entails the process of fostering academic and social connection, which calls for precise and unambiguous expectations from students. Students must master risk management skills as they develop their capacity as learners and come to believe that they are capable of personal growth. Before participating in a large group activity, students benefit from frequent practice in pairs and feedback within the pair group. Students need constant affirmation and support to cultivate this growth mindset. Teachers must offer numerous possibilities for engaging different sorts of learners. The best classroom participation occurs when it is properly supported to satisfy the needs of the learners and the activity. When students are struggling to learn math, there is an interventional option that is available to students. Math intervention/remedial math is a support system or class that progress monitors students as they go through the course. Usually there is a pre-test taken that captures the data of what is it they do know. As the students apart of the course move along, assessments are taken to help monitor how well they are retaining the information.

In the article “What’s the Next Best Thing with Literature Circles,” Harvey Daniels talks about how literature circles seemingly popped up out of nowhere almost simultaneously around the country which has contributed to self-motivated readers. I didn’t realize that literature circles was something that was thought of by teachers and then slowly developed into a strategy utilized by many teachers. I have found that students love the opportunity to talk and share their opinion in literature circles. Even my most shy students will participate in the discussion. 

This article reinforced that small groups during discussions are most best. Students feel confident in their smaller groups and are able to have a meaningful discussions. The intimate setting makes it fun young readers and makes them more willing to share. Daniels also shared that students should have the option to choose which book they would like to read to promote success and mitigate frustration. At my school, we advocate for this which has caused many students to independently ask to go to the library and check out a book. 

I did find it funny that like the game of “telephone,” procedures and strategies can become lost in translation. I realized this recently when a teacher was sharing something that she did in her classroom that worked really well. She gives cues to her students by passing out sticky notes to redirect behavior. Another teacher misunderstood what she said and was giving out the sticky notes but not providing a follow up action when the note was seemingly ignored. The teacher definitely said what she did next, when the student ignored the note
