Insights from Scholarly Resources
The resources I selected had important insights applicable in the work environment. One of the insights is that nurses have to be genuinely interested in the treatment process and care for their patients. A caring character will prompt a nurse to go out of their way to ensure a patient comfortable and secure. For instance, genuine care will lead to sacrifices such as asking for help, coming early, or leaving late to ensure the safety of a patient. A nurse should not use the job as a stepping stone to other higher levels or simply work to secure their jobs. Another important element is communication skills. Nurses have to communicate to patients about their illness and exercise active listening (Twigg et al., 2019). Listening will help the practitioners to understand the patient’s condition.
One of the leaders I have seen with such skills is my mentor. He is passionate with the patients that he creates lasting impressions and long-lasting relationships. The mentor keeps the records of patients and contacts them frequently to see how they are doing. The action has been impactful in changing the behavior of the patients and inspiring their families to refer other patients to the healthcare facility.
The skills are effective since they help patients to realize that practitioners are genuinely interested in their care. Patients can trust the treatment process when they know the nurses have a genuine interest (Twigg et al., 2019). Communication skills in the workplace transform the efficiency of care delivery (Twigg et al., 2019). It helps nurses to avoid medical errors which can undermine patient safety. The insights are motivational to the interns who look forward to gaining quality skills to deliver quality, timely, safe, and efficient care.
