The Strong relationship between smoke and Lung Cancer

Second hand smoke arises from mainstream smoke or from side stream smoke. Second hand smoke problem arises when non-smokers are exposed to it involuntary or as passive smokers. The second hand smoke has nicotine and other chemicals that are toxic to the body. Therefore the more one is exposed to this smoke, the more harm their bodies are exposed to. Some of the toxics they are exposed to cause lung cancer. In fact, second hand smoke has similar harmful chemicals as the one that the smokers inhale.
In Bradford Hill’s Criteria for causation clearly outlines the minimal conditions that are likely to establish a relationship between a cause and its consequence. In this case being second hand smoke and lung cancer respectively. Based on the strength of the relationship, Bradford argues that the stronger the association, the more the exposure to one thing can lead to the result expected from extensive exposure. I believe the strength of the relationship is as strong as Bradford argues. This is because, as one is more exposed to second hand smoke, the more the toxins accumulate in the body. As this goes on, they may accumulate to high levels which ultimately leads to lung cancer.
