INSTRUCTIONS:
Social Movement: THE AID MOVEMENT
Social Determinant: social support, access to health services and quality of healthcare
Facing these social determinant can impact HIV incidence rates, rates of people getting tested,
and treated. Reduce mortality and decrease progression to AIDS
A. Introduction: Presents a clear topic and the purpose of the paper (as a objective or
thesis statement.
B. Background: Historical Summary: Provides a clear progress of actions across time and
identified key players and events What is the AID movement? Dates? How it started?
Who are the key players or leaders?
C. Health Disparity:
a. Explain at least one disparity the Aids movement was intended to target. Once
you explain it, determine if it has been successful in addressing or reducing this
disparity. YOU MUST PROVIDE EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT YOUR CLAIM.
Evidence should include two social groups that clearly show the difference in a
health outcome.
b. Detail the ways that the AIds movement affected population health. Provide
example to support your claim. This section should clearly show the connection
between the aids movement and the health disparity of interest.
D. Social Determinants: Make sure to include these social determinants discussed in
class: 1. Social support 2. Access to health care and quality of care
D. Effect on population health: THis section should clearly have a connection between
the aids movement and the overall population health in the united states. Provide
evidence
– Utilize the social determinants as well . For example: If the social determinant,
social support, was addressed then rates of testing and treatment will increase,
progression to AIDS would decrease.
E. Conclusion: The conclusion must match the information in the paper, and doesn’t make
any errors in reasoning .
