Sometimes the best way to understand what constitutes a strong mission statement is to look at other companies’ mission statements. While you should not copy another company’s mission statement, exemplary mission statements can suggest wording or an approach that you may want to use.

Here are some mission statements:

McDonald’s: “To be our customers’ favorite place and way to eat.”

Patagonia: “Build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, use business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis.”

Honest Tea: “Create and promote great-tasting, healthy, organic beverages.”

Nike: “Do everything possible to expand human potential.”

Here are some vision statements:

Disney: “To entertain, inform and inspire people around the globe through the power of unparalleled storytelling, reflecting the iconic brands, creative minds and innovative technologies that make ours the world’s premier entertainment company.”
