Health Assessment
The 17-year old boy had a head injury during a football game. He is planning to play in the next game in the next three days. The situation requires extra health information to assess the condition of the boy. For instance, the boy should confirm other conditions such as vomiting, nausea, bleeding or headache (Talha, Sulaiman, Joshi & Hamed, 2017). The symptoms can be effective to determine the diagnostic tests to take. The patient should also provide information on how severe the head injury was and the location. The information will determine if the patient is safe to play in the upcoming game in three days. The health information should also comprise information about whether the boy is taking any medication currently.
One of the ethical considerations while addressing the patient is, to be honest with their condition. (Boulanger, Hunt & Benatar, 2016). The assessment will determine if the boy is safe to play in the next game. For example, if their condition is critical, it is important to be honest and explain the risks of playing in the next game. The information will be provided based on the ethical code of health practitioners that they should do no harm (McGuire & McConnell, 2019). The commitment to do no harm will help in advising the patient about their safety. Although a healthcare provider cannot prevent the patient from playing, they will provide all the necessary information. Additionally, if the patient is accompanied by a guardian or parent, it would be critical to explain to them the risks of playing in the next game since the safety and health of the boy is a priority.
