Discussion Instructions:

Complete the required readings for the forum as outlined in Module 1.
Read the three starter threads. Post TWO thoughtful original observations on this board.
Post once in the “Favorite Aphorism” thread. Be sure to make the post personal as the prompt requires.
Post once in either the “Basic Principles” or the “Autobiography” thread.
A “thoughtful post” adds new, specific information to the discussion. It will reference the text specifically in some way. If you do not earn full credit for any post, you will be given the opportunity to edit and add more points.
You will not be allowed to create a new thread; post as a reply to the starter thread.
After posting your two original responses, read other postings and post a response to at least one classmate. Build upon your classmate’s post by providing additional details, ideas, and perspectives. Please notice this statement: Short “I agree” or “Good job!” responses will receive no credit; you will be given the opportunity to write a new response to earn more points.
FYI: The forum tool bar will allow you to click “Select All” and then “Collect.” Doing so displays all messages together for easy reading. Also, you should check this forum several times to see how the discussions are progressing.
Forum Grading:

To receive full credit, you must post three times. You will be graded primarily on your two original responses.

To review: Posts should answer your chosen questions thoroughly with evidence from the text. Do not expect to receive full credit for short, underdeveloped posts. Also, your response to your classmate must be specific; posting a general statement of agreement with no explanation or additional thoughts will receive no credit.

To help students understand The Crisis, No. 1 more fully and to write more academically, I have restructured this forum. I have also added several Wheatley poems to the forum.

Discussion Instructions:

Each student must respond to just ONE original prompt. There is one prompt per student in this forum. Please do not write an original response to more than one prompt. If you do so, you will take question choices away from your classmates. Again, the directions are to write about one original prompt for the entire forum, not one per thread.
Prompts are chosen on a first-come/first-served basis.
No more than one student may write about a specific prompt. After one student has responded to a prompt, that prompt is off limits. You are welcome to add your ideas to a post of another student, but you must respond to your own individual prompt.
You can go to the TEXT ONLY. For better or for worse, I ask that you offer your own ideas about your prompt, NOT analysis found from the Internet.
I ask that you respond thoroughly with 8+ sentences. FYI: You are asked to share quotes from the text in your responses, but the quote will not count as part of the minimum length requirement.
You will not have the capability to create a new thread; you must post as a reply to the starter thread. However, I do ask that you give the topic (sample nursing essay examples by the best nursing assignment writing service) of your post in your reply so that your classmates will know what prompt you have chosen. An example would be to change the subject line from “RE: Rhetorical Appeals” to “Logos.” A change like that lets students know what prompts in the thread have been taken. CREATING A NEW SUBJECT LINE IS AN IMPORTANT STEP THAT WILL HELP STUDENTS WHO RESPOND AFTER YOU.
After posting your original response, read other postings and post a thoughtful response to at least one classmate. Build upon your classmate’s post by providing additional details, ideas, and perspectives. Notice the specificity with which you should respond. All posts should show that you have read and understood these works. A general “great post” – or any version of that – will not earn points.
