Budget – promoting resilience and youth development

Budget
Introduction
This project aims at promoting resilience and youth development for Bronx residents. The focus is on youths between the age of 10 and 18. The project has two main objectives: to promote resilience and youth development in the adversity of negative experiences and trauma and to develop clinical intervention centers, prevention strategies and increase the number of social workers. In the Bronx neighborhood, youths are at risk of falling into mental health issues, engaging in violence, drug abuse, and suicide (Bronx crime rates and statistics, 2020). However, the project will Help in catering to the well-being of the youths, primarily through the treatment of behavioral health conditions.
The project has four main goals: Providing job opportunities to college transitioning students to prevent falling into mental health, provision of education through e new curriculum, and increasing the number of students undertaking inter-disciplinary and inter-professional services for students of all races. The agency is a nonprofit organization with a plan of the three-year project, which will require two hundred thousand dollars each year, which will Help in addressing the underlying issues and attaining the project’s goals and objectives. The developed program will Help in coming up with a primarily health-related solution as per the budget, goals, and objectives. The program will also undergo an Assessment to assess its effectiveness. The Assessment criteria will be the students’ attitude towards the training and reception by the audience, which in this case are the students between the age of ten to eighteen. This paper responds to a request proposal for the W.Guy foundation for a project that would address several problems in the Bronx neighborhood. The project is concerned with community responsibility, mentorship, creative arts, and youths’ academic success between the ages of 10-18
Needs Statement
The Bronx community has several problems mainly contributed by the rise in population and the high cost of living in New York City. As a county within one of the largest cities in the world, Bronx has a population of 1.4 million, with a poverty rate of twenty-nine percent. This is twice the national percentage (Bronx crime rates and statistics, 2020). The high poverty rate is one of the top factors affecting the growth and development of youths and their mental health conditions (The Bronx crime rates, 2020). Income levels in most of the households are below the New York State median income. Due to the high poverty rate, education is also a significant issue. The latest statistics show that very few children in schools have graduated and completed their academics. Most public schools receive free food and food at a low cost due to the inability to pay (Bronx crime rates and statistics, 2020). With the highly stressful conditions experienced across the county, only eleven percent of students manage to graduate from college.
Cases of criminality in the Bronx among the youths are double those of the entire state of New York. The most common ones are violent crimes. Most of the cases reported are committed by Latinos and Black Americans (The Bronx crime rates, 2020). Reports show that at least half the population in Bronx is made up of Hispanics. The largest population in Bronx is comprised of foreigners. Approximately 55% speak languages other than English. The community requires more training in the English language, which would Help in solving more issues hence enhancing communication. Most Latinos in Bronx originated from Mexico, Eastern Europe, Italy, Ireland, and Germany. Factors such as poverty, insufficient and low-quality education, and language barriers are the root cause of problems in the community. They result in social issues such as adverse health outcomes and training on mental health responsiveness and resilience. Healthy coping in the community begins with having a common language of communication. This Helps in initializing training programs, including mental health programs and training on resilience.
Poverty in the Bronx has been reported to be the leading cause of emotional, behavioral, and social problems. The poverty issues have resulted in several mental health issues, such as the most common mental health among children between the ages of ten and eighteen, known as the attention deficit hyperactive disorder (Dinapoli and Bleiwas, 2018). Due to the high levels of stress and peer pressure among youths between the ages of 10 and 18, this age group is prone to engaging in drug abuse and violent behaviors. They also have a high vulnerability to falling into other mental health conditions, such as depression and anxiety. The teenagers in Bronx are heavily affected by childhood trauma and harsh life experiences. As a result, the youths lack purpose and become sad persistently, which is more common to black teenagers than white teenagers. Due to depression and other forms of mental health issues, some youths commit suicide. Statistics show that the rate of attempted suicide
is higher among boys compared to girls.
Research shows that the most common causes of suicide and mental health issues among teenagers in Bronx are parental neglect and change of environment in their early developmental stages. In addition, being raised in two worlds, such as Mexico and the United States, and encountering racial discrimination increases the vulnerability of the children suffering from mental problems and opting for suicide.
Other contributing factors include poor living conditions, poverty, consistent lack of health care, and attention due to poverty, and lack of access to health care for medical attention. Lack of health services is a significant issue that has led to an increased number of people living with HIV/AIDS and people living with mental health and other behavioral problems (Bronx crime rates and statistics, 2020). According to the NYC health community survey, teenagers between the age gap experience mental health issues at a higher rate and substance abuse, leading to suicide. The high rate of issues has motivated the agency into coming up with a program that would Help in bringing back normalcy and catering for the well-being of teenagers through the attainment of some goals and objectives developed. The agency has other programs that promote the city’s well-being. This includes the collaborative project with the healthy aging foundation, which caters to people over the age of 65 (Bronx crime rates and statistics, 2020). The programs are more concerned with the well-being of the residents in the community, considering the underlying conditions such as health status.
Program Description
The MSW project program goes according to the designed goals and objectives. The project’s main goal is to increase the number of social workers and students that serve the community and offer treatment to children and youths at risk of falling into mental health issues and other issues, such as drug use. The program encourages a high number of student enrollment, especially when it comes to courses that involve serving humanity and Helping in filling the workforce gap, which is currently not enough to cater to every young person in the Bronx. The students will Help the vulnerable children and the families and transitioning teenagers, for instance, youths graduating from colleges and high school. However, the social workers will take the roles of social leaders and Help in guiding and acting as mentors and directories of children between the age of ten to eighteen. Also, the social workers and students will serve the population by offering training concerning mental health issues and how to deal with mental health issues.
The proposed program is critical and essential for the community, especially for young people between the ages of ten and eighteen. The opportunities provided for the students Help in getting the necessary knowledge and skills, which would Help in working with youths between the age of ten to eighteen. The students will be taught and emphasized on the primary care approach. In addition, 16 out of 33 students will be trained in Spanish and other non-English languages that frequently speak for accessible communication. Another goal and objective of the program are to provide a knowledge and educational curriculum that primarily focuses on providing necessary services, such as linguistic services and mental health services. In addition, the curriculum should include education on the treatment of vulnerable and at-risk children, which is in line with the program. The students and social workers have also been involved in training and a seminar that focuses on particular topics, such as suicide prevention, how to deal with youths who have trauma, how to handle the LGBTQ, and substance prevention strategies, and addiction treatment. However, the seminar will be facilitated by the MSW students at Lehman College and members of other agencies with a common interest in the needs of children between the age of ten to eighteen.
The program will also include inter-professional discipline, which is far from the disciplines learned concerning social work, and treatment. In addition, youths are supposed to be invited and involved in new education series, which will be happening monthly. The program also advocates for providing opportunities such as employment to students graduating from school and colleges that cater to all students without discrimination. Finally, the program promotes education and health equality, which is the most critical considering most Bronx populations are Latinos.
The program daily schedule includes,

The budget will Help in youth development and promotion of the youths’ well-being and promote resilience among the children between the age of 10-18. The budget will be equally distributed for three years. It will cater to the items required per personnel. The personnel includes social workers, mental health experts, interns, linguistic trainers, and health experts, that will play a significant role in offering training and accessing the children. The budget also caters to the needs of the personnel, such as the teaching resources, books, and other resources primarily used in the program implementation process. The $200,000 will also cater to other personnel expenses such as the cost of volunteers and the resources required to perform their duties. However, the budget will be reviewed and evaluated to ensure that everything required is stated and nothing more.

Assessment Plan
Assessment is an essential process that is part of project management. Assessment Helps in developing results and evaluating whether the goals and objectives were met as expected, whether the students were adequately trained. The number of social workers was increased to sustain the health demands of the youth between the age of 10 to 18 in Bronx.
A project Assessment process is a four-phase approach involving activities such as planning, implementing, completion, dissemination, and reporting. Each phase is unique based on what is being evaluated. The planning phase is the first and most crucial part of the process. It focuses on stakeholders and the programs’ goals. The planning process determines the clarity of the designed goals and objectives and the methods used to determine the project’s need and requirement, such as conducting research (ATSDR, n.d.). Determining people who have an interest in the project, such as other agencies, is essential, especially in promoting the attainment of the designed goals, an increase of credibility, as well as addition of participants in the project, for instance, the need of mental health experts, and other professionals in the first of sociology, and psychology. Other stakeholders include the community residents, schools, the public, and community-based agencies interested in the health interests of children. Understanding the cultural diversity of the Bronx community is one of the essential factors that are considered in the Assessment process. Assessment during program implementation assesses the availability of the thirty-three intended participants, use of training materials, clarity of the educational goals and curriculum, accuracy, ad adherence to the agency’s standards. Furthermore, the Assessment team determines whether the timeline was well utilized and the processes and, such as the art projects, were well coordinated by social workers and interns (ATSDR, n.d.). Formative and process Assessment is vital and would Help in ensuring the community and people put in place for the work have promoted the program’s ultimate success based on the scheduled time and budget.
Completing the project and evaluating the outcome is the most crucial part of the Assessment, summarizing the project’s performance, sustainability, and efficiency. Assessment of outcome mainly targets the social conditions the program was designed to change, such as improve on health and promote health accessibility, train students on skills and knowledge that Help in coping with children at risk, and how to deal with LGBTQ and mental health victims. In addition, however, the Assessment process focuses on the number of people who received an education, training services, change in attitude or behavior of the students, and how the education Helped the community. A CBPR conceptual model template Helps in evaluating the program’s outcome, which reviews the use of partnership and impacts of partnering with other agencies and Helping in developing an Assessment plan. Assessment of the outcome focused on the long-term and short-term effects of the program. This includes the project goals such as increasing social workers, how the increase will impact the future, and Helping address the underlying health condition, especially mental health among the 10 to 18 years old.
After evaluating the program, dissemination and reporting to the necessary audience is vital through a dissemination plan. It is developed at the project planning stage. The dissemination process involves providing results to the public through several articles, which must be well understood considering the culture and the most commonly used languages, which are not English. However, the dissemination should be balanced and equal, which Helps in building capacity among stakeholders and s promotion of equality among the lack, Hispanic, and white residents of the Bronx.
The project Assessment process helps determine whether the project was conducted according to the expectations and designed goals, focusing on students’ needs, ethnically, culturally, and linguistically. The type of data that will inform one whether the goals and objectives are achieved includes the number of trained students, the changes made in the development of the curriculum to fit the required educational goals, and the extent to which the mental health cases have been reduced in the community. However, the data collected is concerned with the program’s impacts and how the program has played a positive role. The Assessment process will be conducted for one week after the program implementation to give room for changes and any correction identified during the implementation process.
Future Funding Plans
Exploring and applying for many funding opportunities would play a vital role in preventing future issues, especially when it comes to continuity of the program when the current funder attains three years. The W.Guy project is a social project with a wide range of funding opportunities, both from public and private organizations. As a social innovator, global innovation funds would be an excellent opportunity for the project, which Helps in funding programs that handle social issues, such as health issues and other ideas that improve people’s well-being. The good thing about the global innovation funds is that the organization funds projects in all stages of investments by providing loans, grants, and equity. The funds provided range between $50,000 to $15,000,000, which may be enough for future projects considering the current projects only required $200,000. Therefore, the global innovation funds can act as the best funding option, especially for large-scale projects.
Additionally, crowdfunding is another newly introduced opportunity, or rather the method of funding a project. It could be a good choice for the project in the future. Crowdfunding involves sourcing money online from people with the same interest(Mollick, 2014). Crowdfunding is a primary method of obtaining funds. It utilizes social platforms, such as IndieGoGo and Kickstarter. People engage in a conversation that culminates in the promotion of the idea through funding. The participants also engage in discussions on the issues in society and how they can Help in solving them. Other funding opportunities include sourcing for funding from the European Commission (EC) and the Young’s Foundation. The Young’s Foundation would be the best for the project since the project targets youths between the age of
10 and 18
The project could also seek funding from UNICEF, which provides grants and Venture Capital (VC). Furthermore, Google also offers community grants. The Google-funded promotion provides a platform for projects to stand out and win more than 500,000 dollars based on their competence and relevance to society. How to get future funding is not the problem, but how to use the funds and the difference between the current and the future project.
The funds would Help in developing the program and creating more significant, effective, and impactful goals. The development of a clear pathway would Help in enhancing health care and addressing the root cause of the problems. For instance, solutions to address poverty, discrimination, and low-quality education in Bronx. More so, the funding processes would Help in collaborating with other more extensive and developed agencies such as the WHO to provide food to public schools to reduce school drop-outs and child malnutrition cases.
