Let’s take a look at a situation where nurse encounters a conflict between the clients wishes and those of her family. I understand this is hard for you, but she spoke to Dr. Klein about the risks and benefits of the chemotherapy, and she has the right to refuse this treatment. This scenario depicts an end-of-life care situation where the client and the family disagree about treatment. However, this client is competent enough to make decisions about end-of-life care. The nurse must understand that the client has the right to exert her in autonomy and self-determination about her own care and treatment. Ultimately, it is the nurses role to ensure that the client has the right to accept, refuse or modify her plan of care. By doing so he is respecting and protecting the clients rights
