WEEK 5 DISCUSSION

Conflicts are and will always be present in our daily lives and it is upon us to solve them and bring adaptive change that will serve society for a long time. Adaptive change initiative is the best way of solving current issues in our societies such as women’s violence, drug abuse and international organised crime. The first step a criminal justice can use to solve a conflict is by creating a holding environment (Heifetz, 2013). These environments should be conducive such that they allow someone to tackle issues calmly and also it provides one with structural, procedural and virtual boundaries. The case is highly relatable to the issue of drug and substance abuse when one is taken to a rehabilitation Centre which provides this conducive environment that is safe and also provides all the vital boundaries for one to recover.
The second adaptive change initiative is controlling the temperature which helps in the initiation of change and also makes the people shift their attention to hard issues and focus on them. For example, in a case involving women’s violence in order to control the temperature one should give the same role to both parties so as to steer up competitive ideas which will bring in more ideas and help in resolving the issue (Grashow et al, 2009). Thirdly, the criminal justice should pace the work to ensure he is patient enough to make wise decisions and also to ensure that he emulates the work ethics.
A senior politician once made a policy reform in the healthcare sector that caused the economy a lot of problems. The latter happened because of not pacing the work and he even started withholding information which brought about ethical complications. Lastly, the criminal justice should show the parties conflicting the future by creating a positive vision and answering all the clarification questions based on his decision (Heifetz & linsky, 2017). For example when the complaint asks why a judge has arrived at a conclusion they should be answered so as to show them a future. By following all these steps most of the current issues will be solved permanently and hence bringing change to the community
