Cybercrimes have increased in the last few years thus posing the need to implement data security systems. The organization needs to secure the data to prevent loss of information that can compromise operations (Allen, 2016). Data loss can lead to poor reputation among the patients who may feel they are not safe. Therefore, change implementation is a priority for health organizations that desire to improve the efficiency of their operations, data security, and management of data.

The proposed change is to invest in security systems that will protect Electronic Health records. The security system comprises of blockchain which ensures safe sharing of data among healthcare peers. The change will also require a two-step verification process before logging into the site. The proposed change will require all the healthcare staff to be trained on the need for data security (Fernandez & Rainey, 2017). The change involves carrying out an audit trail to establish activities that could undermine data security. The proposed change will enhance data integrity to enhance the decision-making of the top management. However, when the data is altered with the decisions will not be relevant to the challenges on the ground.

The data technology of the company is at risk and it requires a system that will enhance effective and secure sharing among nurses. Investing in a blockchain will ensure that healthcare providers can securely and efficiently share data. If the information is shared on a less secure platform, it will be exposed to multiple interferences. The system comprises of features that ensure data cannot be changed or deleted thus protecting patients’ records. The technology will boost the confidence of patients and partners of the health organization (Allen, 2016). Additionally, it will eliminate unnecessary cost involved in lawsuits when patients’ data is lost to hackers who can use it against them to access information that is against HIPPA stipulations.

The proposed can be justified since it comprises of a two-step verification method. The two-step verification will ensure healthcare providers protect the patient records from access by unauthorized persons. The security feature will protect patient data as outlined in HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996). It is the contractual duty of a health organization to protect patient information such as personal details including phone numbers and address (Fernandez & Rainey, 2017). Cybercrime hackers are targeting health institutions since they know they have tones of data that can be used to hack bank accounts. Hacking healthcare information can undermine operations and thus it should be protected.

The proposed change will lead to a number of modifications to the current healthcare system. The type of change will alter the way healthcare providers share data across different departments. It will ensure all the data is added to an electronic ledger after confirmation that it is correct. The scope of change will comprise of all the healthcare information including patient medical history and drugs available (Meybohm et al., 2017). It will involve patient records, medical procedures, laboratory results and nurse notes or analysis results. It will also involve financial transactions of the healthcare organization to make them secure. Therefore, patients, partners, and stakeholders of the healthcare organization will experience better services.

The change process will involve various stakeholders including patients, partners, insurance firms, research institutions and top management of the organization. The stakeholders involved include patients who will receive the assurance that their data is securely stored and shared (McGrath, Taenzer, Karon & Blike, 2016). The patients will freely provide information about their address, social security numbers without fear. Insurance companies will confidently share information on healthcare premiums paid by the patients (Fernandez & Rainey, 2017). Researchers in nursing capstone paper will be impacted since they will easily access credible and reliable data for research purposes. The results will also inform policymaking decisions. The top management will confidently assurance patients that their data is safe from data breaching threats.

Additionally, it is important to recognize the value of the nurses, government and healthcare subsidiaries in the change process. Healthcare providers including nurses will be involved in efficiently sharing data across departments. Nurses will share data with clinicians, doctors in surgery rooms, and pharmacists. The government is a stakeholder since it will be assured that Electronic Health Records are accurate (Allen, 2016). Healthcare investors or donors are stakeholders since they will access information on the confidentiality and security of the data. Healthcare subsidiaries are stakeholders since they will change their systems to enhance interoperability. The different stakeholders will be involved at different stages of the change process.
A team of professionals will be involved in the process to make it successful including consultants, supervisors, nurse leaders and project management team. The change management team will comprise of various professionals who will execute the change. The change management consultants will develop the change management strategy to be used (Allen, 2016). Executive and senior managers will examine and launch the strategy and sponsor the activities essential for successful change. Supervisors and nurse leaders will be involved in ensuring the strategy is implemented successfully. Project support will provide the technical support to ensure all the data is transferred to the new system. Nurses will be trained to adopt a new system to ensure effective changes.

The success of the project will depend on timely, effective and clear communication of the change process to the relevant stakeholders and change management teams. The first step is to communicate the proposed change to all the healthcare providers and stakeholders (Meybohm et al., 2017). It is necessary to explain why the change is necessary and the risks involved with the old system of managing healthcare information. Another crucial step is to coach the leaders to ensure they support the change to transfer it to the other staff members (Fernandez & Rainey, 2017). The communication will also provide a visual explanation to train the nurses on the proposed change to ensure they clearly understand how it works. When the various stakeholders understand the change process it will be easier to achieve the set goals.

Communication will involve collaboration with various teams. Therefore, it is necessary to receive feedback on what they believe will be the best approach. It will involve allowing the nurses and other stakeholders to comment on the proposed change including positive and negative responses. The leader of the project will communicate with all stakeholders especially nurses through various platforms including emails, workshops, face-to-face, and online discussion forums (Meybohm et al., 2017). He or she will provide new learning to fix misunderstandings about the change to foster an effective transition. It is also necessary to track the progress to ensure the change process is measured to ascertain if it is successful or not.

The proposed change can be hindered by various risks if they are not properly managed. The change process will involve various risks that should be mitigated to ensure the success of the change. The risks include cyberattack risks that may occur during or after the transition to the new system. Other risks include financial risks, data safety, resistance to change and shortage of staff (Meybohm et al., 2017). The risk mitigation will involve training the staff to ensure they understand and adopt the new system. The transition to the new technology will remain a secret until a successful change is realized. The healthcare organization will seek funding to ensure all the costs incurred are paid on time and thus eliminate delays.

Change implementation in healthcare settings requires diligence since it has an effect on the quality of patient care. One of the critical changes in healthcare involves safe and efficient management and sharing of data. Blockchain is a digital ledger that stores information or transactions. It provides an assurance that data cannot be deleted or changed. It will ensure the safe sharing of data across healthcare peers such as pharmacists, nurses, and doctors. A successful change management process is essential and all risks should be mitigated to ensure the success of the proposed change.
