A. As part of federal health reform, President Obama introduced and was successful at having passed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). President Trump has tried to repeal several of the provisions. How has ACA helped Americans and how have some of the repeals (identify 1 to 2) affected Americans.
B. Identify a specific public health issue that you believe needs to be highlighted more in health policy and based on your textbook readings discuss how social media can be used as a health promotion tool to improve public awareness on the selected healthcare issue.
C. Imagine that you are a Washington lobbyist. What would be your main messages regarding changes needed in the health system (if any) if you worked for an association representing generalist physicians? What if you worked on behalf of Medicare patients? Non-profit community hospi­tals? The insurance industry? The chronically ill?Community health clinics that serve poor and vulnerable populations? How would your messages be similar or different, and why?

A. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare, was introduced by President Obama as part of federal health reform in 2010. The ACA aims to improve access to affordable healthcare for Americans by expanding insurance coverage, regulating insurance companies, and improving the quality of healthcare. Some of the key provisions of the ACA include the expansion of Medicaid, the creation of insurance marketplaces, and the requirement for individuals to have health insurance or pay a penalty.

The ACA has helped millions of Americans by increasing access to affordable healthcare. Prior to the ACA, many Americans were unable to afford health insurance or were denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions. The ACA has helped to reduce the number of uninsured Americans by expanding Medicaid and creating insurance marketplaces, which offer subsidies to help individuals and families afford insurance premiums. The ACA has also helped to improve the quality of healthcare by regulating insurance companies and requiring them to cover a minimum set of benefits, such as preventive care, maternity care, and mental health services.

However, President Trump has attempted to repeal several provisions of the ACA, including the individual mandate and the expansion of Medicaid. The repeal of the individual mandate, which required individuals to have health insurance or pay a penalty, could result in fewer people being insured and higher insurance premiums for those who remain insured. The repeal of the expansion of Medicaid could result in fewer low-income Americans having access to affordable healthcare. These repeals could have negative effects on Americans, particularly those who rely on the ACA for access to affordable healthcare.
