Decision-making is a key aspect of operations management, as managers must constantly make decisions about how to allocate resources, adjust processes, and respond to changes in the market or within the organization.

There are many different decision-making models that can be used in operations management. Some common ones include:

The rational decision-making model: This model assumes that individuals make decisions by considering all available options and choosing the one that is most logical or rational based on their goals and constraints.

The bounded rationality model: This model recognizes that individuals are limited by their cognitive abilities and the amount of information they have available, so they may not be able to consider all options when making a decision. Instead, they may use heuristics or mental shortcuts to make a decision quickly.

The intuitive decision-making model: This model suggests that individuals can make quick and effective decisions based on their experience and expertise, rather than relying on a formal decision-making process.

The multi-criteria decision-making model: This model involves considering multiple criteria when making a decision, rather than just one. This can be helpful in situations where there is no clear “best” option, and trade-offs must be made between different objectives.

The scenario planning model: This model involves creating and analyzing different possible futures, or scenarios, to help managers anticipate and prepare for different outcomes.

Ultimately, the decision-making model that is used will depend on the specific situation and the resources available to the decision-maker.

Your task
Individually, you are required to respond to the forum scenarios posted in weeks 7, 8 and 9 via MyKBS
and prepare a 500 word written reflection.
Assessment Description.
In this Individual assessment, students will be given an opportunity to explain operational strategies and
demonstrate the skills needed to build effective supply and logistics systems that support desired
business outcomes, such as analysing internal and external forces that impact business operations and
utilise conceptual models to determine the ethical implications of day-to-day and strategic decisions. This
assessment will also allow you to evaluate the effectiveness of operating data about sales, costs and
finance in directing the activities of an organisation.
Assessment Instructions
For this assessment, students need to respond to the scenario posted in the “Forum” section of the
MyKBS. To find these scenarios:
• Log onto the MyKBS and go to this subject. Click on the “Subject Resources” tab
• Go to the weekly resource tab (7, 8 and 9)
• Click on the “Forum” tab and click on the “Discuss” icon. You will then find the scenario for that
week.
• You need to make one post for each week (three posts in total) in response to the scenario
given for each week by Sunday of the respective week– 7, 8 and 9
After these three postings, you need to choose one of the weeks (either 7, 8 or 9), read the stream
of other students’ forum posts and prepare a 500-word reflection to be submitted. Your reflection
needs to be in response to and build upon the postings of other students and you need to include
in your reflection at least 3 other posts. This needs to be submitted by Monday, Week 10.
