This paper will analyze how the clinic has maintained high staff retention by looking at the discovery and dream phases of Appreciative Inquiry and conducting a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis.
The WC is an ambulatory care setting that treats patients from the community, local nursing facilities, and transfers from other hospitals in the outpatient setting. The staff is also responsible for treating any inpatient with a wound or needing specialized care from the WOCN. Despite the heavy patient load, the staff retention rate in this department is 100%. A survey was conducted to understand why retention is so high in this department. Many employees stated that they stayed because of the strong teamwork and camaraderie among the staff. The front desk staff also tried to keep patients updated on their wait times and progress, which helped to improve satisfaction. However, the WC faces challenges such as long wait times and long hours, as well as the need for updated equipment. To address these issues, the WC could consider expanding the team and implementing new technologies to improve efficiency. Overall, the WC has a strong team dynamic and a commitment to patient care, which has contributed to its high retention rate.
