Bio 310 Genome Association Project Report Muscle Fiber Types Specifically Fast Twitch Muscle Fibers Vs. Slow Twitch Muscle Fibers

The aim of this report is to develop a cohesive story of your project. These guidelines are NOT intended as a laundry list, to be checked off in order in each section regardless of whether it flows or not. You must include the information below in a well-organized narrative, but it will likely include more information than the essential required items below. 

Fast twitch vs slow twitch trait test results 13 total participates 8 total had slow twitch muscle fibers which consisted of 5 girls and 3 boys. 5 total had fast twitch muscle fibers which consisted of 4 girls and 1 boy.

 3. Results

a) graphical results demonstrating:

i. the outcome of the trait test

ii. the associations you identified (remember these could be positive or negative, could be more complex than a single associated gene, and may not be related to your original hypothesis at all)

b) figure legends that describe the contents of each table/graph. Be careful to state the data only, save interpretations and significance for the next section. 

 4. Discussion

a) step-by-step analysis of the results. Walk the reader through the contents of your figures and the conclusions you reached. “Figure 1 shows that 88% of the participants that were able to _______ had X gene in common. This suggests that…..”

b) Assessment of your hypothesis—supported, rejected, or inconclusive?

c) next steps to take to refine your experiment or validate your results. Be specific, don’t just say repeat the experiment to collect more data. Explain why you believe that simple repetition would be appropriate rather than to develop a new way to test the trait that would independently confirm the results.
