Job Application Assignment 

For this assignment, write about 300-350 words (this can be one long paragraph or you may decide to break it up into two or three shorter paragraphs) describing between one and three jobs you have applied for and the process of applying for those jobs. (See alternate assignment below if you have never had a job)

If you have only had one job or have had the same job for a long time, describe the job itself (briefly) and the process of getting that job. Some questions you might consider: Did you apply with a paper application, a resume, was it an online application process, did you use a personal connection to the company or the business? If relevant, you may compare the current application process to the process you went through if you have observed significant changes. 

If you have had multiple jobs, choose two of the jobs and compare the application process. (See questions above).

This piece of writing should be a coherent and cohesive paragraph or couple of paragraphs. Do NOT just copy these questions and answer them. This is not quite an essay, but it should read in an organized way and make some kind of point. 

Use this as an opportunity to reflect on the process of looking for, applying for, and getting a job. Reflecting on this process and how it changes over time can help you become a better candidate in the future.

You can submit a word document or type in the textbox. If you use the textbox I recommend typing in word or google docs and copying and pasting just in case something goes wrong with Moodle.

 Alternate Assignment 

[If you have never had a job, please research two different organizations that you would like to work for and try to figure out the application process and write up a strategy for making yourself an appealing candidate. In your 300-350 word paragraph(s) you will explain what the company is looking for, how to apply to the job, and what you think you can do to make yourself an appealing candidate, especially since you do not have proper work experience. You might think about what is comparable to work experience. For example, I’ve seen students saying involvement with something like Eagle Scouts has helped them get their first job.]
