The presentation on plastic pollution shows that various countries have taken different measures to reduce pollution. One of the critical questions is, what is the role of the EPA, WHO, and FDA in recommending a global ban of BPA and other harmful plastic products? Canada and Denmark have banned BPA, while New York has banned plastics (Hermabessiere et al., 2017). If other countries have not instituted measures to avoid plastic pollution, they pose a threat to other countries. For example, plastic wastes pose a risk to fish and other sea creatures. When rivers that cross various countries or states such as Mississippi are polluted, they will extend the effects to other states (Hermabessiere et al., 2017). International environment agencies should step to recommend a ban on dangerous products across the world. The measures will secure the environment from further degradation as a result of preventable measures.
The second question is, what is the readiness of countries or states to implement positive social change contributing to less pollution? Human behavior contributes to pollution. Some behaviors include throwing plastic wastes in rivers (Barbera-Tomas et al., 2019). Positive social change that can correct the negative behavior can contribute to the massive eradication of plastic pollution. The United States provides recycle bins to citizens to ensure they safely dispose of plastic waste. The question focuses on what is the readiness of other countries to execute such measures (Barbera-Tomas et al., 2019). Criminalizing the poor disposal of waste can contribute to less waste, but positive social change can generate better results. It is the countries’ responsibility to stipulate measures that can create a new mindset and the desire to participate in eradicating plastic pollution. Community participation can generate better results in the world and secure the environment from further pollution.
