The organizational structure is the foundation on which a business functions, and it varies depending on the operation, the size of the business, and the need it fulfills. Henderson’s business strategy would not work if the goal was to manufacture an entire plane or medical equipment. The case study’s strategy is multidivisional, with distinct teams from different divisions doing different jobs competing for resources. Some teams feel more entitled and superior to the initiatives they are carrying out. With all of these variations, this strategy is extremely difficult to govern and regulate. Manufacturing a full plane or medical equipment is extremely delicate and necessitates the adoption of a matric structure, which is already in use by Boeing Aerospace and the largest medical company, Medtronic. The matric organization, according to Daft (2015), mixes divisional and functional structure, and the top authority assign duties to employees who report to him. Henderson’s strategy would fail miserably in a large corporation.

I agree that a productive team is one that is empowered, challenged, rewarded, and joyful. Aside from these criteria, there are others to consider, such as the work environment, leadership, and technology. According to Kozlowski and Bell (2013), teams perform best in a work climate that is enthusiastic and supportive of their executions. Pessimistic and tense settings have a negative impact on staff productivity, which in turn has a negative impact on the company’s overall performance. Good leadership guides teams, while relevant technology helps employees perform better.

3rd question

He may have invested in a training program to prepare general mechanics for FAA-certification. Henderson could also impose severe bonds to prevent those who attend the training sessions from leaving the organization once they have received their licenses (Forsyth, 2018). Another option would have been to hire these professionals on their own, which would have been rather costly.

4th question

Yes, GE’s financial resources aided Henderson in restructuring the production facilities. Working in a new, smaller business would make it difficult to find FAA-certified mechanics. Contracting staff to perform some responsibilities would have been the only alternative, which would have been costly for a small firm.
