The major concepts of leadership that determine affectivity within organizations are based on team management (Schafer, 2013). Firstly, leaders should have good relationship with the people they lead. As a result, the team members will be fearless and free to seek consultations from their leaders. Secondly, leadership should involve planning of both time and resources which is useful to shape teaming skills. Finally, leadership should involve being visionary as well as setting policies that aim at achieving firm’s goals and vision. Visionary leaders will always work together with teams in accomplishing the assigned goals and providing necessary support the team requires (Schafer, 2013).
How the concepts can be applied
Ineffective leadership can be avoided by basically applying the best organizational and corporate culture (Vecchio, 2007). Positive culture should be applied begins from the leadership. Leaders should adjust to the culture of team building, realign poor policies, improve transparency, embrace top-up leadership approach, and set fresh strategic plans that must be implemented.
How the concepts will improve effectiveness, productivity and efficiency of teams in the organization
By setting clear goals and vision, a team gets to understand their visions and goals that they have to commit to in all their individual tasks (Rainey, 2009). Similarly, successful teams are usually related to the effective leaders who have clearly defined and set better corporate and organizational policies. Finally, top-down leadership is a best method where leaders get to listen to the people they lead. In this manner, team members are encourages to be efficient and productive in their performances.
How to ‘sell’ the concepts to decision makers
Ineffective leadership kills the employees’ morale as well as the long term goals of organizations (Rainey, 2009). Therefore, effective leadership should be adopted. The concept of effective leadership can be sold by offering training by organizing for workshops, clearly illustrating the advantages and disadvantages of both ineffective and effective leadership.
Barriers that might you face and why
Some of the barriers to implement the concepts may include working with ineffective leaders. They are often dictatorial, one-way, fast in making decision without foreseeing effects and autocratic (Vecchio, 2007). These challenges can be faced when working with leadership team that has no interest in the long term achievements or failures of a firm as long as they are making profit in the present.
