Discuss, with reference to relevant theoretical models and empirical evidence, to what extent cultural differences should be considered and embedded in the international strategy of a MNE and what issues (like HRM, CRM issues or other similar issues) neglecting these could cause in international management. Use practical examples (case studies) to support your statements. Your answer should not exceed 3000 words (+/- 10%).

You are also required to use theoretical models, check how it has been done and incorporated in the case studies from the examples given (note the question was different).

3-4 case studies should be properly and deeply analysed and 3-4 case studies should be briefly discussed in the theoretical models and the part for empirical evidence.

You should link your theories to the case studies in part C of the main body

Structure of the Paper

Introduction (300 words)

Introduce the reader to your subject.

Explain the background of the topic etc.

Define key terms (MNE, cultural differences, and international strategy) and explain your interpretation of the question

State/explain the objectives, In your introduction, you should have an argument stand answering to what extent (the expected answer should be cultural differences should be considered to a great extent in the internationalisation strategy of an MNE.

Outline what you intend to cover in the essay, your main argument which should be cultural differences should be highly considered in the internationalization strategy of MNE) and conclusions (structure). Explain this depending on how you have structured your paper.

Main Body (2400 words)

Up to date sources (2015 – 2022 (maybe)) have been used as well as past research

A: Have a level one heading for theoretical models

While writing the theories you should explain the extent to which cultural differences should be considered in the internationalisation of an MNE and explain issues that may arise if these differences are ignored and give at least two practical examples (not so detailed). For the theoretical model you must use The Bartlett & Ghoshal Model and Permutter model. These were other theories discussed in class to measure culture and they might be helpful Hofstede’s cultural dimensions theory, Trompenaars’s model and The Globe framework.

B: Level 1 heading for the empirical part (you can give it your own sub-heading)

Have a part for empirical evidence/literature review which should also explain the extent to which cultural differences should be embedded in the internationalisation strategy on an MNE and also explain which issues may arise if these cultural differences are neglected e.g HRM issues, Marketing issues, CRM issues etc using practical examples.

The other important thing for this paper is ensuring you discuss issues that may arise if cultural differences are not considered in the internationalization strategy of an MNE which should come clearly explained in the theory part and the empirical evidence part.

C: Analysis of the Case studies as a level 1 heading

The next important part is the case studies part, ensure there are at least three properly analysed case studies of real companies that either didn’t embed cultural differences in their internationalisation strategy, explain what went wrong, did they have issues in marketing, HRM, CRM etc….how did they solve? Or examples of companies that have embedded these cultural differences in their strategy and how it has helped the company, how it has helped them in their HRM, Marketing, CRM etc. Link the case studies with the theories discussed in part A.

Conclusion (300 words)

Remind the reader of the purpose of the assignment

Summarize what you have discussed/ implications of your discussion
