Healing Verses Curing
Holistic care embraces the entire nursing practices that enhance healing of a person as a whole. The holism of this care philosophy involves the identification of the interrelationships between bio-psycho-spiritual-social dimensions of an individual (Dossey, Keegan & Guzzetta, 2005). To ensure this holism of healing in a person, nurses should track the healing progress by keeping records of holistic care process involving assessment, identification of needs, defining particular outcomes, establishing a therapeutic care strategy, and evaluating and implementing the plan. These records will help nurses to provide analysis of patients’ health status progress including past and current coping patterns, healing beliefs and values, spiritual practices, a person’s health goals and social support which are helpful in the holistic healing analysis.
From the records enlisting the feedback from patients after filling the assessment forms, it is clear that a patient’s holistic healing cling on the four aspects of life which can be physical, emotional, spiritual or mental aspects (Reading & Webster, 2014). These are the four life aspects that wholly define a person. For a person to undergo healing, all the four life aspects are core contributors other than the curing attempts. This paper describes all these levels leading to holistic healing. According to the records containing feedback from patients after completing the assessment forms, a patient’s holistic healing is dependent on four aspects of life, which can be physical, emotional, spiritual, or mental (Reading & Webster, 2014). These are the four aspects of life that completely define a person. Other than the curing attempts, all four aspects of a person’s life play a role in healing. This paper describes all of the stages that lead to holistic healing.
Mental Aspect of Healing
The mental life aspect considers a person’s beliefs, attitude and value. Having a proper perspective of what a person is undergoing brings healing. It is wise to clearly comprehend what you are going through and face it with positivity and realistic attitude (Moore & Komras, 2003). Fantasies of the repercussions of the current sufferings bring confusions and may block a person from keeping focus in the moment as well as deter ones wisdom to provide for daily living. Mental healing keeps people focused on current events and provide the wisdom required for daily survival. Often, most patients suffering from maladies delay healings if they do not take control of the mentality aspects of healing.
Spiritual Aspect of Healing
Spiritual view of healing is experienced when a person finds a sense of purpose and a meaning of living a healthy life regardless of the presence of maladies. This aspect of health enables individuals to believe in a “higher power” which enables one to appreciate the beauty of every single moment of life (Reading & Webster, 2014). Moreover, this aspect of healing allows individuals to feel not isolated and allows them to extend a love as well as care for others.
Emotional Aspect of Healing
From my assessment of the feedback obtained, emotional perspective of healing comes from accepting one’s own emotions on any situations of ailment, properly expressing them to others without being judgmental. It takes care of emotional explosions, keeping on showing tenderness and love regardless of others negativity. Emotional healing, moreover, involves being aware of your feelings and ability to engage your emotions. It lets people live deeply and fully.
Physical Aspect of Healing
This is an aspect that most people focus on and it entails the well-being of the physical body. Healing comes as result of daily exercise for body fitness, nutrition and following doctor’s recommendations for treatment. Physical healing is very wide starting from the sunlight necessity, water, exercise, good food, sleep, as well as many aspects of life. In summary, Healing only takes place when uncertain issues at a psychological aspect are realized and removed.
