Each person is to answer the question and then respond to one other persons answer a different question then you-always using the text to support your answers. Opinions are great but you need to support your views with sources. Please cite the page number and any other sources you use. ex. (Comer, 58).

1. List three criteria for defining abnormality. For each criterion, provide one argument in favor of the criterion and one argument against it.

2. How does the 19th century approach to treating mental illness differ from earlier views? Did the earlier devices and techniques help or hinder mentally ill patients? Would you have wanted to suffer a mental illness during any of these times?

3. Please choose any two of the following models: psychodynamic, behavioral, and socio-cultural. How does the 2 models explain an abnormal fear of dogs.

4. If a friend of yours needed to be treated for depression, what would be advantages and disadvantages of your friend receiving either psychodynamic therapy, or cognitive therapy? Which of these two alternatives would you recommend to your friend?
