Computer Lab Guidelines

Operating Policies and Procedures
To ensure the smooth operations and continued use of the computer lab, kindly observe the following policies:
Only use the lab within the open hours
Open hours are as follows
Monday – Friday: 8:00 am -8:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Sunday and Public Holidays: Closed
Avoid bring food and drink to the lab
Removal of any equipment from the computer is prohibited
Kindly leave the computer ready for the next user. The screen should be at the login window
Anyone found in violation of the above will be penalized
Always ask for assistance from the lab assistants when in need of help

Instructions On Logging In And Out Of The Network
Please use the following steps to log in and out of the network.
Logging in
Make sure you are registered for the current semester
Make sure the screen displays the login page for the network
Type your username (firstname_lastname)
Enter your password (registration number)
Click on the log in button
Login out
Check the top right part of the screen. You will see a profile icon.
Click on the icon and select log out. It will be the last option on the drop down list.

Directions To Access Popular Software Packages
Please note that the common software packages provided by the school are available on all the lab computers. To access the software, head on to Common Core Software Packages. It is also important to note that each Operating System is allocated its own applications and others may vary depending on the version for the OS. Each software is updated to the latest version available for the respective OD. Select the software you are interested in and begin.

Bringing Your Own Device
Please label your devices before bringing them into into the laboratory
Ask for assistance from the lab technician if you need the Common Core Software Packages installed.
You may connect to the WiFi or LAN network for connection to the network

Information On Proper Printing Procedure
Please note that all printing is paid for before the document is printed out.
Color printing costs 50cents
Black and white printing costs 25cents
Once you select the printer and click on print, kindly head to the pay station and pay. Your document will then be handed to you.
Please note that printing jobs are refreshed every hour. If you fail to complete a print within the stated time, you will have to redo the process again.

Guidelines On The Use Of Resource Material
Electronic resources such as websites should be used strictly for the purpose of academics and not entertainment.
Please be responsible over the physical resources such as monitors, keyboards, mouse, routers, etc.
Anyone found in violation of the above will be held liable for their actions
Students with their own laptops should sit on the empty desks and avoid occupying the space with desktops.

Where To Get Help
The lab assistant is always ready to help and available for consultation within the open hours expect during lunch break.
New students are expected to report to the lab assistants office for brief training before they start using the computer lab. The training session is every weekday from 4:00 pm -5:00 pm
NB: special requests by specific courses to use the computer lab are acceptable upon booking through the lab assistant.
