At some point, I will be interested in the AANP. I want to become a Nurse Practitioner, so I want to get a Master’s degree in nursing. The AANP is the largest and only national professional organization that offers full services to all types of NPs. It helps move health policy forward by giving legislative leadership at the local, state, and federal levels. It encourages excellence in research, practice, and education. The goal of the AANP is to give every nurse practitioner (NP) the tools they need to improve health care that is accessible, person-centered, fair, and of high quality for diverse communities through practice, education, advocacy, research, and leadership. (AANP, 2022).

What nursing certifications or continuing education (graduate degree) might fit into your plans for the future?

I want to get a Master of Science in Nursing through a Nurse Practitioner Program. I’m sure I’ll have to go to a lot of CEUs to keep up with new information.

In terms of your own transformational leadership skills, which of the TEACH values talked about in the lesson do you think would help your workplace the most if you used it? What could you do as a transformational leader to bring this chosen TEACH value into the work environment?

It’s hard to choose just one. As a health care provider, I would like to think that HEART is important. HEART means serving with passion, respect, and care (Week 6 Lesson). If you want to work in health care, you have to care about the person you’re about to treat. You should treat them with respect, not judge them, and really just want what’s best for them. After all, if we want to help, we should become providers.

When you show that you care, it keeps a good mood going. Nurses and techs have more respect for doctors and nurses who really care about their patients and don’t just do the bare minimum or put things off. It also lets people in your community know that you are a caring provider. This will also make the company you work for look good, and because you are a good provider, patients will have more faith in the company.
