Class 1: This is discussion post only a paragraph.
Brent is a 4-year-old child in a Pre-Kindergarten space. He sits at the table with peers, and the children ask him, “Why aren’t you eating the burrito?” Brent points to his breakfast burrito and shakes his head, wrinkling his nose. The educator asks him, “Do you want that?” Brent reacts by pushing the burrito away. The educator removes it and asks, “Do you want an apple instead?” to which Brent nods his head. The educator says, “Say ‘yes’ if you want the apple,” and Brent replies, “Yes.” Brent begins to eat his breakfast. When a neighbor spills her juice on the table, Brent’s eyes widen, and he points to the spill, saying “Oooooooooh!”
Initial Post: Discuss the stages of speech and language development that Brent is exhibiting and suggest two ideas the educator could concentrate on to improve Brent’s lack or use of speech and language. Refer to module readings, videos, or lesson content to support your understanding.
Class 2: In your discussion post, analyze the following visual elements in the advertisements shown above:
1. Identify the target audiences for each of the advertising images above.
2. Compare and contrast how each of these advertisement images uses color to strategically attract a specific target audience (Ex: orange may be a more appropriate color choice for younger audiences but not necessarily for business audiences).
3. Compare and contrast how the lines are strategically used to guide the viewer’s eyes to a specific element in the advertising image.
4. Consider if the two advertisements traded how they used colors and lines. Would it attract their targeted audiences in the same way or as effectively?
5. How could you use color and line strategically in your life or career applications?
*Remember— Analysis requires that you substantiate your ideas with quotes from academic sources and experts in the field. Analysis without substantiated evidence is opinion. Use your eTextbook, another academic article or source, or a career or real-life example to support your analysis points in your initial discussion post to demonstrate your full comprehension of the topics.
