The mean, median, mode, standard deviation, and coefficient gradient are terms used in descriptive statistics. The terms can be applied in analytical statistics to describe the data set in a variable. The mean or the measure of tendency is the average number of data points in a data set. Another measure of tendency is the mode described as the most occurring value in a data set. Standard deviation is the most common measure of dispersion in statistics. It measures the overall variation of the data set around the mean. The coefficient of variation is the ratio the standard deviation is to the mean. It expresses the standard deviation as a percentage of the mean.
