I loved reading your post. It is informative. I do agree that the correlation method, case study method, and the experimental method are similar because all of them Help researchers to gain knowledge of a particular function or person. But, could you expound more on this similarity? It would really be great if you elaborated how each of the methods Helps a researcher to obtain more knowledge about a person or function. It is important to note that correlational research is preliminary and nearly always precedes experimental research. As you have indicated, correlational research seeks to establish if 2 variables are related; therefore, the aim of this method is identify variables that have some kind of relationship to the extent that a change in one creates some change in the other. From this description, it is clear that correlation does not imply causation. Just because one factor correlates with another does not imply that the initial factor causes the other or that these are the only two aspects involved in the relationship. This is where an experimental research comes into play, i.e., to ascertain cause and effect.
Similar to you, I also believe that the strength of the correlational method is how it can detect a connection between two variables. However, how is the strength of this method’s predictive capabilities with a large sample and with a small sample? Are the predictions stronger with large sample sizes compared to small sample sizes? In addition to providing control for the researchers, experimental research also allows researchers to use many variations and is relatively easy to replicate (Augier, Fang & Rindova, 2018). It is true that one of the main weaknesses of the experimental method is how it demands specific characteristics for researchers; it also has low realism since the environment is artificial, and subjects aware of the experiment may change behavior.

I liked reading your post. I found it to be quite informative. I do agree that the main difference between correlational research and experimental research is methodology. While correlational research focuses on determining a relationship between factors, the experimental method seeks to identify a direct cause for another factor. It is also important to note that in experimental research, the researcher normally introduces a catalyst and monitors its impacts on the variables. As you have indicated, the case study method is similar to correlational research in that in both, no experiments take place, and no variables are manipulated or induced. This is true. Both methods can also offer extensive information for developing new hypotheses for future testing and offer information about a rare or otherwise hard-to-study condition or event (Cacioppo & Freberg, 2015).
The third-variable is indeed a significant problem in the scientific studies. It impacts both the independent and dependent variables. The results may thus show a false correlation between these variables leading to incorrect rejection of the null hypothesis. Contrary to you, I believe that the solution lies in using the experimental design alone. An experimental design that is well-designed and constant checks will serve to filter out the worst confounding variables. For instance, randomizing groups, using stringent controls, and sound operationalization practice all contribute to getting rid of prospective third variables (Graves, 2015). When it comes to objective test, you have stated that the self-assessment methods can hold a lot of bias; how do you think this challenge can be mitigated? Do you think these tests are too lengthy and hence wear out the subjects? And between the objective and the projective test, which one do you believe gives more valid and reliable results?
