Assignment 2: Accessing the EvidenceTeam members should use the PICO question to identify a set of terms (e.g., nurses and sleep; nurses and work environment; shiftwork and sleep) to use for iterative searches. Identify 5 articles on the team topic using a unique search database and begin the process of appraising the article using the supplied spreadsheet (you may choose to use the Excel spreadsheet tool(Attached) or the Word Document “Literature Spreadsheet Instructions with Word Tables doc Attached.At least three of these articles should be original research or systematic reviews, qualifying as “Research” in the Johns Hopkins text, Chapter 6. You may include up to two articles that are considered “Nonresearch” as defined in the Johns Hopkins text, Chapter 7. Do not include mixed methods studies as this is beyond the scope of the class.
You should have a different set of articles and so must communicate with the team to avoid overlap and redundancy. Use (APA) style to write the article citation in the spreadsheet or Word tables (keep in mind that some databases will offer you a citation of the article; they may have errors and/or are in a different format). You will need to accurately assign a research study design. See the provided example for expectations.
A spreadsheet tool helps to keep track of the entire set of articles for the final project. Formulas have been added to the spreadsheet to sum up the total number of each level and quality of evidence on your topic. You can add APA citations and assessment of the Johns Hopkins Level of evidence (Johns Hopkins text, page 296) and quality grade (p. 302 and 304 for Quantitative and Qualitative articles, respectively). This avoids duplicating your articles and can lay the groundwork for your team to synthesize your findings. In homeless patients with cellulitis due to sunburns from the recent heatwaves, how does administering antibiotics and IV fluids, compared to applying antibiotic topical agents, improve the outcome in achieving medical stability?Why you selected this question (include at least one citation to support the importance of this topic in APA format [7th edition])?We selected this question to reduce and assess the likelihood that sunburn due to recent episodes of scorching weather will result in E.D. visits among the homeless population (Tripathi et al., 2021). The biggest summertime worry is now heatwaves due to the rising prevalence of cellulitis. Particularly for the vulnerable people who are homeless, exposure to excessive heat can result in several health issues. Homeless people are more likely to suffer from cellulitis and other foot conditions. Zhang et al. (2018) suggested that hot weather, sweating, moisture, insect bites, and skin exposure may make these conditions more common and severe during summer.
Antibiotics and adjuvant care, such as rest, hydration, healthy nutrition, elevating the affected leg, applying warm compresses, and pain relief, can help address cellulitis. However, we would like to know the difference between administering IV antibiotics versus topical agents and how it impacts the patient’s healing process.Please see the References used for the PICO above in the attachment for FYI.
