You will create 3 different presentations for the lab content of the course. The first 2 will be timelines and only require 1 slide each. If you know PowerPoint then you can do all three in the same presentation; however, if you are not well versed in PowerPoint you may want to simply make 3 different presentations to upload. You may also draw and submit pictures for the timelines but the rest will need to be on some form of presentation form that is accepted by Blackboard.

1. Create 2 PowerPoint slides, I suggest editing the slide size to 4 feet wide by 3 feet tall. You do not need to print this out but if you do this you will allow yourself much more space to work with. I have attached Files on how to do that with the version I have but you may need to google how to do that with the version you have. Simply google “How to adjust slide size with version “X”

On the first slide create an accurate timeline of the universe from the start of the universe to the formation of the earth and moon. Make sure to end the timeline with the modern-day. Use gridlines so your depiction is accurate. Meaning, the timeline must represent the accurate amount of time. Thus, the distance between events should be representative of real-time.
Example: If the earth is 4.5 Billion years old and the Universe is approximately 14 Billion years (we are rounding for simplicity) the part of the timeline that shows the formation of the earth should be 4.5/14th of the timeline.

Make sure to note:
a. The major events (early expansion, atoms forming, laws of physics, stars forming, supernovas, formation of galaxies, formation of the solar system, formation of the earth, moon
b. Descriptions of those events
c. What evidence do we have that demonstrates those events occurred. (Hint Cosmic Background Radiation is one)
d. Make sure to use pictures and descriptions of what those pictures are.
e. Have a box for citations. Where you got the pictures and the research.

2. On the second slide create a timeline from the start of the earth until the modern-day. Use gridlines so your spacing and time ratios are accurate.
Make sure to note:
a. The major life events like protocells, prokaryotic cells, eukaryotic cells, multicellularity, the evolution of protists, plants (lignin, seeds, covered seeds, vascular tissue), fungi, and the different phylum of animals (make sure to cover the evolution of the egg).
b. Make sure to note when different evolutionary adaptations evolved like, Body plans, neurons, different symmetries (asymmetrical, radial symmetry, bilateral symmetry). Coelom, Tissue layers (mesoderm etc.) Development (Protostomes or Deuterostome), cephalization, evolved. For example we see neural nets evolve in Cnidarians so you would put a mark for the evolution of neurons at the same time as Cnidarians
c. Show some examples of these different evolutionary adaptations
