For this Midterm Assignment, worth 40% of the final mark, the students should do the following work:
For this report you need to select a country for the case study, in which you analyze dynamics of the main macroeconomic indicators in the past 2-3 years and answer the following questions: 1. Compare the nominal and real GDP and discuss their dynamics
2. Compare the growth rates of real GDP and real GDP per capita. Explain the differences. Assignment help – Discuss the likely benefits of the economic growth.
3. Compare inflation rates over the last several years based on CPI. Summarize the reasons of why the CPI might not capture the true rate of inflation.
4. Explain how collapse of economic activity caused by COVID-19 pandemic affected unemployment rate in the selected country. Assignment help – Discuss why falls in employment and hours of work have not been fully translated into increased unemployment as recorded in national labor force surveys.
Search for data, articles/reports about the country of your choice and provide the corresponding references. Clearly indicate the time-frame for your analysis. Support your answers with specific examples and data based on your case study and references. Include line charts to show the dynamics of the main macroeconomic indicators.
REQUIREMENTS
– The report and answers to all questions must be answered on one single document. Do not include the text of the task/questions since this generates similarity. – The answers of your exam can be submitted as a Word document or Pdf. – Use theories discussed in the class, formulate your answers to questions/sub-questions in a clear and concise way. – When needed use relevant charts, label and explain them carefully. All the graphs should be self-constructed in Word, Excel, etc.
Structure of the Report Cover page: The first page must contain the full name of the student, the logo of the school as well as the name of the course. An introduction: provide a brief description of the country of your choice of your choice. Content: Analyze the main macroeconomic indicators and answer the questions References/bibliography should follow the Harvard Referencing format. Include the articles/reports you found for your case study. The word count: the report should be between 1000 and 1500 words excluding bibliography.
