For this assignment, you will address cultural competency in counseling. This assignment contains two parts:
Part One: Create a table/matrix addressing cultural competency in diverse populations. The table/matrix should include the following populations:

Native Americans
African Americans
Hispanic and Latino Americans
Asian Americans
LGBTQ Individuals
For each population, address the following in your table/matrix:

The main characteristics of the population
Strengths and challenges presented when working with members of the population
Considerations for the counseling relationship
Strategies to implement when counseling members of the population
For the table/matrix, Help write my thesis – APA style is not is not required, but solid academic writing is expected and in-text citations and references should be presented using Help write my thesis – APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the Help write my thesis – APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

Part Two: Cultural Competence Plan

Building upon the information in your table/matrix, create a written plan of 500-750 words to address issues of cultural competence as a counselor. Make sure to cite specific examples from the table/matrix when outlining the components of your plan.

The plan must be prepared according to the guidelines found in the Help write my thesis – APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

Include a minimum of five scholarly resources, in addition to the textbook, in the assignment.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
