Conducting Interviews

Lean startup approach, originally developed by Steve Blank and adapted by many, is built around a simple idea: quickly find out what works and discard the rest. This will help you discover if your idea is worth pursuing before you put time, effort, and, perhaps most importantly, money into the pursuit. One of the best ways to do this is through customer interviews. But, these initial interviews shouldn’t be focused on the solutions; instead, they should be focused on understanding problems and frustrations. This will help you understand what the customer really needs.
Once again, we are going to draw on the Experiential Entrepreneurship Curriculum. We are going to draw on the interview guidance they give us. Tonight, we’ll practice some interviews and this week you’ll have to conduct some of your own.

This week, you will conduct interviews. Draw on the Experiential Entrepreneurship Curriculum, using the interview guidance they give us.
To fulfill the requirement must do the following:
• Download the interview script;
• Identify 2 people who are experiencing the problems you are targeting; and,
• Interview those people submitting your documentation

You should, as your assignment, decide on an idea you would like to explore (ideally, you should draw on the problem focused approach we have been adopting). From this, think about the hypothesis you have. Then, identify those people who display observable behaviors that show they are experiencing the problem, frustrated with the status quo, and, perhaps, actively looking for a solution. These are the people you want to interview. Use the interview script provided by the Experiential Entrepreneurship Curriculum (see the link below).
Next, week I will want to hear your hyothesis, the behaviors you are looking for, and a summary of your interviews.
