Purpose of the Course: The purpose of this course is to educate individuals diagnosed with diabetes, their families, and caregivers about the disease, its management, and prevention. The course will cover the etiology, pathophysiology, signs and symptoms, diagnostic procedures, and treatment options for diabetes.

Needs Assessment: The need for this course was determined by the increasing prevalence of diabetes worldwide, with an estimated 463 million adults living with diabetes globally in 2019. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that over 34 million Americans had diabetes in 2018, which is approximately 10.5% of the US population. This disease is associated with severe complications that can significantly impact the quality of life and increase mortality rates.
