Download the Open Traverse Worksheet from Brightspace. Use this worksheet to display your calculations. Using the homework standards, use additional sheets (81/2 x 11 copy paper or graph paper) for calculations. Submit scans of your Open Traverse Worksheet and additional calculations. DO NOT calculate the last two columns (“Balanced Azimuths” nor “Balanced Distances”) Angles and azimuths may be rounded to integer seconds. The final answer of your calculations will be the coordinates. Thus you may round your coordinate answers to 2 places to the right of the decimal point (the same precision as the field distances). All other calculations must be rounded to 3 places to the right of the decimal (to minimize error by dilution of precision). The open traverse starts at Point “A” and ends at Point “F”. You must hold the given coordinates for Point “A” and for Point “F”. You must also hold the initial azimuth of traverse leg A-B, and you must also hold the ending azimuth for traverse leg E-F. Using the Open Traverse Worksheet and following the procedure outlined in the lecture, calculate Column 3 (Unadjusted Azimuth); Column 4 (Adjusted Angle); and Column 5 (Adjusted Azimuth). Also calculate Latitudes and Departures. Using the Compass Rule, calculate Latitude Corrections and Departures Corrections. Using these corrections, calculate the Adjusted Latitudes and the Adjusted Departures. Finally, calculate the coordinates for each traverse station A to F.
