Judaism
Judaism involves one of the ancient or rather the oldest religion where the followers believe in the existence of one God. Different practices within this religion are based on faith, and consequently, this has resulted in specific challenges within the contemporary setting. Through the teachings within the religion, the believers believe in God who showed himself to the prophets of the old days (Stambovsky, 2019). The ‘closeness’ element within Judaism originates from the belief that through the generation of the Israelites, they were selected by God. For instance, God, from the scriptures, had selected Israelites of an agreement or covenant. Besides, the bible referred them to as the holy nation of God.
Consequently, this religion has existed for more than 4000 years and considering the longevity of the faith, the practices and culture among the believers are guided by a single scripture where the same God inspired the given teachings. As a result, the moral development within the believers through generations is based on similar education, therefore maintaining the strength of faith. Also, believing in one God unites these followers, and in turn, the union in belief prevents splitting of Judaism.
However, despite the longevity, different issues are affecting the religion through the current context. For instance, there includes an increased division wishing the faith, especially between the liberal and orthodox Jews (Stambovsky, 2019). The other challenge that is facing these followers consists of reduced interest in the religious practices within Judaism. The appeal of some believers in this religion has started to decline, for instance, the secular Jews are no longer interested in the community and spiritual aspect regarding Jewish lifestyle. Besides, the practices and beliefs within the religion require interest and passion for passing to the other generations. Therefore, the lack of such passion and interest means a significant challenge that is facing the faith currently.
