Comparative Criminal Justice

Answer the following questions: What is the difference between comparative criminal justice and comparative criminology? What is the difference between International and transnational crime (give an example of each)? The rate of criminal activity has increased over the years at the international and transnational level due to a multitude of factors (i.e. technology, globalization, etc…) , do you think Trump’s initiative’s on crime and justice will have an impact on transnational and international crime? Why? Why not? Do you think a Border Wall will reduce criminal activity and immigration? With a Border Wall could we start letting-go (firing) border agents and instead hire engineers and maintenance people to ‘up-keep’ the wall?

Comparative Criminal Justice
Comparative criminal justice describes and interprets how improper conducts are explained and punished. In the justification of its punishment, it focuses on what is forbidden. It also focuses on the ways political segments strive to maintain social order and achieve justice. Comparative criminology focuses on crime patterns between two or more cultures, it focuses on the testing of international level theories on crime. International crimes are those that violet the international laws, they include crimes against peace and security of humankind but are not limited to these. They involve the intervention of international agencies in the investigation and prosecution process. They include genocide, slavery, and torture. Transnational crime extends into and violet the laws of more than one country. They offend values of international communities, they include drug trafficking, money laundering, and terrorism.
President Donald Trump initiative has an impact on crime. The first step act that was passed aims at reducing the sentenced years of convicts, introduce vocational training, education, and counseling and substance treatment. It also allows the prisoners to obtain credits that help them gain an early release. These training will reform them and give them a second chance, such that when they are released they will have a great desire to live a reformed life preventing them from getting back into these crimes. The tracking of these prisoners and re-arrest rate analysis will help them stay away from these crimes hence reducing it. The border wall will not reduce criminal activities since statistics show that most illicit drugs enter the country through legal ports, also most crimes are committed by the natives as compared to the immigrants. Building a wall only can’t reduce this since they can still be smuggled through tunnels, drones or cargo trains. Border agents will still work since all borders need to be monitored to ensure no illegal goods enter the country and also to prevent human trafficking (Lopez, 2019).
