CRIMINAL JUSTICE
:
There is a problem in the criminal justice under prevention of crime. Many black people and Latinos are harassed by police officers just because they belong to a racial group that is associated with high crime rates. According to statistics, 97% of the people that gets harassed like this by the police are actually innocent. That means that only 3% of these harassments produce an evidence of a crime. Research shows that black people are twice as likely to be pulled over by traffic police that white people even though the white people often drive above average. Of all the people that are pulled over, a black person is four times more likely t be searched more than a white. According to a study by the Justice Department back in 2013, of all the people that were pulled over, 7% Latino drivers, 6% black drivers, and 2% white drivers were searched. (Baumgartner. F et al, 2018)
Although the rate of incarceration has been high over the years, there has been inequality in penal confinement. The inequality produces extraordinarily high rates of incarceration among black men than other any other race. The metric used to measure the rate of incarceration is the records the fraction of jail population on an average day. Although there is an 8% increase in the rate of incarceration, there is still an unequal distribution of prisoners according to their race .according to research, 90% of jail population is male with many of them being between 20 and 30 years old. This shows that there is criminal injustice among the male youth in the US. (Western. B, Pettit. B, 2010)
