The film? The Wizard of Oz? opens on a farm in Kansas. The lead character is a twelve-year-old miss named Dorothy. Dorothy exists in a universe limited by aged beliefs and frights, which make up a great portion of her world. In Kansas, Dorothy is a twelve-year-old miss, with twelve-year-old demands and emotions. I feel that the film is a device by which we can analyse Dorothy in all provinces of head, her witting, pre-conscious, and unconscious. I believe that Sigmund Freud? s rules on the construction of personality and dreaming will help in understanding Dorothy? s growing, wants, and demands.
