   Accountability on the internet
and social media sites have changed the way of life in the modern day society.
It has enabled people to connect as well as create social interaction through
sharing various kind of information. There has been development in the social
sites making it more useful in the modern world. However, there have being
issues of accountability associated with the broad range of the crimes and the
matters of cyber bullying. In fact, it is through the use of the social sites
that there has been reported an increase of crimes among other social wrongs
that are being accelerated daily by the issue of the use of social media.

  The case of Kathleen Edward is
an excellent example of cyber bullying and the way it has happened over the
years to many reported and unreported cases. The 7-year-old girl who was dying
of Huntington’s disease is not worth of the bullying she suffered from being
bullied on the social media (Hunter, 2010). In essence, a neighbor had the guts
to take her pictures and those of her deceased mother and posted them online in
a way that showed that he had no mercies concerning the issue.

   Actually the
social site needs to be held accountable for the issue of privacy of the girl
and the deceased mother. There is no way that the site can allow people to
continually violate the right of others without taking any action. Facebook has
the responsibility of enacting policy that ensures that people are responsible
for the messages and the kind of information they share on their pages (Henson,
Reyns, and Fisher, 2011). They should not allow reckless information that might
hurt the society or the individuals. The site never removed the pictures from
its site or even following them to understand what they meant and the reason
why they were being posted from now and then. Given that some of the pictures
were real, the site could have made it reach Jennifer Petkov and hold her
responsible for the issue that she was held with. Giving the person to continue
hurting other either with or without their knowledge is wrong, and I cannot
advocate for the same.
Conclusion
 
   In essence, it is the jurisdiction
and the capability of the social site to facilitate a level playing ground for
all. It is its responsibility to ensure that the users do not reach to the
extent achieved by Petkov, and those other people need to have the consent over
the issue. Reaching the extent of giving restraining order against the
individual is far too low after the harm that had already been caused by the
problem. The social cite itself need to take charge and be held accountable for
allowing people to use it in the wrong way or pass false information.
